Description

It is with great pleasure we offer this remarkable UK supplied Right Hand Drive rare carburettor engine 1979 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer that has covered Only 22,000 miles. This is one of only 101 carburettor engined 512's supplied to the UK and it comes complete with the all important Classiche Certificazione Di Autenticità (dated November 2015) and the original bill of sale from Maranello Concessionaires of Egham in 1979. The vehicle is finished in the most desirable Rosso with Pelle Nera Interior and Nera Carpets. As well as the Classiche authentication it also comes with a full book pack, tool kit and an extensive Document folder full of invoices, MOT's and photographs. The mid mounted 5 litre flat 12 Cylinder engine configuration being fed by it's 6 carburettors delivers an incredible sound.

The 512 BB replaced the 365 GT4 BB in 1976 resurrecting the name of the earlier Ferrari 512 racer and was launched at the Paris Motor Show. It was the Pinnacle of supercar motoring in the 1970's only to be succeeded in the Ferrari stable by the Testarossa. The name 512 referred to the car's 5 liter, 12 cylinder engine; a deviation from Ferrari's established practice of naming 12-cylinder road cars (as the 365 BB) after their cylinder displacement. The engine was enlarged to 4943.04 cc, with an increased compression ratio of 9.2:1. A dual plate clutch handled the added torque and eased the pedal effort. Dry sump lubrication prevented oil starvation in hard cornering. The chassis remained unaltered, but wider rear tires (in place of the 365's equally sized on all four corners) meant the rear track grew 63 mm. Engine power was 360 bhp (268 kW) @6200 rpm giving the car a top speed of 179 mph, and an acceleration time of 0 -62 mph ( 0 – 100 km/h) in 5.4 secs.

Only 929 512 BB models were ever produced and we have in our showroom one of Only 101 right hand drive UK supplied carburettor models. This is a very impressive and immaculate example that needs to be seen to appreciate how wonderful it is.
