Ferrari unveiled their plans for the 50s-inspired Monza during a private event at their Maranello-based headquarters describing the open-top supercar as “the closest and purest driving experience to Formula 1”. They also announced it will be “the most powerful (car) ever in Ferrari history” with 810bhp and a 0-62mph time of just 2.9 seconds.

The Monza, of which less than 500 will be produced, is the first in the Icona series of limited-edition, 50s-inspired Ferraris. Ferrari haven’t yet revealed the price of the Monza but it is likely to be in excess of £1 million each. Despite this hefty price tag, every single one of the cars has already been pre-sold.

Ferrari will also follow Lamborghini’s lead and produce their first ever sports utility vehicle. Lamborghini revealed their SUV, the Urus, in 2017 and it went on sale this year. Ferrari’s competition will be called the Purosangue (meaning thoroughbred). This is despite the fact that in 2016 Ferrari’s late boss, Sergio Marchionne, when asked about the possibility of a Ferrari SUV, retorted “You’d have to shoot me first!”
