• The Lamborghini Aventador: The Ultimate Lamborghini?

It's a name to stir the senses and of late, Lamborghini has been on a roll. Supercar hit after supercar hit has rolled off the production line at the marques Sant'Agata Bolognese facility and arguably the halo model of all the contemporary Lamborghinis has to be the Aventador.

Named after a fighting bull, the Aventador stays true to its roots. Featuring a 6.5-Litre V12 engine at its heart, the Lamborghini Aventador is the true essence of what a supercar should be and accurately lives up to the images many of us would have had on our bedroom walls growing up as a child.

With the Lamborghini Aventador, Lambo has produced a machine that delivers on sensory and emotional levels. The traditional geometric shapes are there. Heavy lines, angular edges and aprons give the Aventador a unique styling edge over that of its other European competitors. Only Lamborghini could pull off styling as outrageous as this and outrageous is what Lamborghini does best.

Coupled to this aggressive body styling is this raging bulls beating heart. A naturally aspirated V12 engine is rapidly on the way to becoming an endangered species thanks to ever increasing environmental pressures.

Proudly though, Lamborghini continues to plough on with this powerhouse of engineering and it’s arguably what makes the Aventador so special. 690 bhp comes from the standard Aventador whilst an impressive 730 bhp comes from the ‘S’ iteration. What this translates to is a standstill to 60 mph time of 2.9 seconds and an ultimate top speed of 217 mph.

Couple this to a single-clutch seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox and an acclaimed four-wheel drive system and you have a machine that's a formidable contender both on and off the track and fully worthy of all comers.

The Aventador was first unleashed on to the world back at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and made an immediate impression with American magazine, Car and Driver, heralding the Aventador as ‘The best Lamborghini ever’. The Aventador truly is a masterpiece of supercar engineering.

Mad by design, outrageous power and all the theatrics of a Pavarotti concert. Not many cars can stir the senses like a Lamborghini and with the Aventador comes a sensory overload. The sights and sounds of your supercar dreams, coupled to a chassis and drivetrain that's fully at home on road or track. In the Aventador, Lamborghini holds a firm grip on the ultimate supercar title.
