The DB12 is far more than a facelifted DB11. Aston Martin describes it as the world’s first Super Tourer, and in Volante form it is the most complete open-top car the marque has built. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now produces 671 bhp, a significant step on the DB11 Volante, with sharper steering, a more resolved chassis and a far more engaging character. The cabin has been reworked entirely, with a new infotainment system and a welcome return of physical controls. Open-top grand tourers of this calibre, in a specification this considered, rarely come to market.

The design has moved on from the DB11. The grille is larger and more assertive, the headlights are slimmer and the proportions more purposeful. This car is finished in Titanium Grey Metallic and set off by the Gloss Black Upper and Lower Exterior Packages. Smoked rear tail lights add a subtle finishing touch, and 21-inch Y-spoke wheels painted in Satin Bronze complete the look. Carbon ceramic brakes are fitted.

This is where the car really distinguishes itself. The main cabin is trimmed in Arden Green Metallic semi-aniline leather with mirrored Arden Green stitching, contrasted by Phantom Grey semi-aniline leather on the upper interior and Phantom Grey carpets. The Inspire Comfort Light Duotone interior is paired with Dark Walnut open-pore wood inlays and the Satin Dark Chrome Interior Jewellery Package. The Aston Martin wings are stitched into the headrests, and the Extended Ambient Lighting Package gives the cabin a warm, understated glow at night.
