Description
Here at Premier GT, we are pleased to offer this incredible Aston Martin DBS V8 Series 1 for sale. Offered in Raven Black, and covering 73,420 miles from new.Â
There are cars that define an era, and then there are cars that transcend it. The 1972 Aston Martin DBS V8 Series 1 is emphatically the latter. A true gentleman’s express, this was Britain’s answer to the muscle car age: suave, muscular, and powered by Aston Martin’s first production V8 – a 5.3-litre masterpiece that would shape the brand’s future for decades.
This particular example, beautifully preserved and tastefully specified, represents the very first generation of V8-powered Astons, built at a time when Aston Martin still operated more like a tailor than a factory. With fewer than 400 Series 1 DBS V8s produced, it remains one of the rarest and most desirable iterations of the DBS lineage.
Styled by William Towns, the DBS V8 effortlessly merges classical Aston Martin elegance with a more modern, assertive profile. Its wide stance, squared-off grille, and distinctive fastback silhouette lend it a presence that is both commanding and understated.
Presented here in Raven Black, with its original Black leather interior, this example presents with remarkable originality and patina, capturing the character of a time when cars were crafted by hand, not software.
Beneath the bonnet lies Aston’s all-alloy V8, a quad-cam, 5.3-litre engine developed with both Le Mans and the future in mind. Producing a then-formidable 320bhp, it gave the DBS V8 genuine grand touring capability, combining muscular acceleration with long-legged refinement. Paired with a 3-Speed automatic gearbox, it delivers a driving experience that is both commanding and surprisingly usable, even today.
Power-assisted steering, independent suspension, and disc brakes all round made the DBS V8 not just fast, but genuinely sophisticated, a world away from its American contemporaries!
Supplied with the car is an extensive history portfolio covering information about servicing and MOT's - Plus other work that has been carried out.Â
Whether you’re a seasoned Aston Martin collector or a connoisseur seeking a uniquely British addition your collection, this 1972 DBS V8 Series 1 offers a rare opportunity to acquire an appreciating classic with unmatched charm and road presence.
