In 1993, to mark their 30th anniversary, Lamborghini offered its best customers the chance to own the company’ fastest and most technically advanced supercar yet in the shape of the very special Diablo SE30. Only 150 were ever built and, of those, a mere 12 were, like our example, Right Hand Drive – making it extremely rare and desirable. Ours is numbered 143 of 150 and it has an incredibly low mileage of only 25,000 miles.
A street-legal racecar and a lighter and more powerful version of the already devilish Diablo, the SE30 has a top speed of over 200mph and offers a return to rear wheel drive which makes it more exciting to drive than the standard Diablo. A more menacing stance is achieved thanks to the wider wheels, larger rear wing and more aggressive front spoiler. It also differs from the Diablo with the addition of a magnesium engine intake manifold, sports exhaust system with a unique tailpipe design, adjustable anti-roll bar, lightweight magnesium wheels, sports suspension, extensive use of lightweight Alcantara for the interior, lots of carbon fibre both internally and externally, adjustable rear spoiler, mechanical sliding two-piece windows, and carbon fibre seats with four-point racing harnesses and SE30 shoulder pads.
This particular SE is presented in it’s original stunning colour of Super Fly with Magnesium Alloys Wheels in Silver and carbon fibre taillight surround. The rear grille in black features both the “SE30” and “Raging Bull” badges.
The inside is finished in black alcantara with contrast stitching to match the body colour and royal blue SE30 seat harnesses. Carbon fibre features extensively throughout the interior including door panels, centre console and steering wheel bay ensuring that the car remains as light and as fast as possible.
This wonderful car has been exceptionally well looked after and recent work includes a bare metal respray in its original Super Fly and a complete rebuild of the suspension and brakes. This has all been fully-documented in a large folder of around 300 images which will be included in the owner’s file along with copies of old registration documents, period service history invoices, and SE30-specific handbooks. In late 2017 the car was also fitted with a new clutch and flywheel at a cost of £8,000.
Collectors are turning more and more to cars which offer a pure driving experience combined with incredible horsepower. This SE30’s stunning colour combination and low mileage together with its rarity make this a very wise investment – and a very beautiful one.
